Snippets from the Studio
A scattering of thoughts from the wilds of Northumberland
On a Lifelong Love
I have been thinking a lot lately about why I keep returning to IKWIG. It’s a film made nearly 80 years ago; I’ve watched it more times than I can count, so why do I go back to it - what is it about engaging with a single work that is so inspiring?
Why I love making books
One of the avenues of exploration that I pursue in my work is how in a book structure, form and content can each illuminate the other.
A Seal Book
A limited edition artist’s book inspired by ‘I Know Where I’m Going’, by a pilgrimage to Mull and by hearing the seals singing at Carsaig Bay.
Making a Crow Book
Making books is slow and meditative. I love an afternoon spent in the studio, just gluing bookcloth to greyboard.
