'In the Bleak Midwinter' Christmas Triptych
A unique trifold card incorporating words from one of my favourite carols, ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’. I love the lines ‘earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone’. I always think of animals finding shelter in the winter, snug in their burrows and nests. The design includes a curled up hare amongst the roots of trees and a solitary barn owl flying through the woods. The words ‘Merry Xmas’ also appear.
The card is machine cut from warm white Fabriano paper in my studio and I finish each one by hand with a scalpel. I then fold and press each card overnight and hand make an envelope to accompany them. It makes a gorgeous gift, and some of my customers have actually had it framed as a keepsake.
