Brock the Badger
A shy badger trundles through the undergrowth half hidden by the leaves. In this detailed papercut I have incorporated two different cutting techniques; one involves taking away the background, the other cutting out the foreground shapes. This gives a sense of the badger being half hidden by the foliage which seems appropriate as they can be very elusive creatures. The shape of the piece was inspired by the shapes of stained glass church windows and I wanted to make a piece celebrating badgers as I love to see them pootling around on summer's evenings near where I live. Also because I am heartbroken by the unnecessary culling of badgers in the UK, £10 from every sale of this limited edition will be donated to the Badger Trust.
This is one of four similar papercuts, the others feature a hare, fox and owl. The papercut is lightly spray mounted on black mountboard, and is unframed. It will fit a standard 16 x 12 inch frame (approximately A3 size). It will be posted in a cellophane envelope with a label for fixing to the back of the frame, with my signature and the edition number.
This papercut is available in a limited edition of 10 and combines hand and machine cutting, which allows me to produce work in affordable editions.
The price includes UK P & P.
