Workshop - An Introduction to Artist's Books - Saturday 3rd May 2025

£70.00

A one day course, suitable for beginners, to discover the magic of transforming a flat piece of paper into unique, expressive artist’s books. Come and spend an inspiring day in the tranquil surroundings of the Northumberland National Park. My workshops are held in a beautifully converted wooden barn, which provides a perfect setting for a day filled with creativity.

This introductory day course will introduce you to a range of simple folded, glued and stitched book structures. We’ll look at lots of examples of quirky and interesting artist’s books for inspiration, and I’ll share a range of useful techniques and tips for making your own, including a sprinkling of pop-up elements and paper cutting. In the morning we’ll play with beak books and concertinas, bring in some classic bookbinding using hard covers and book cloth and spend time later on sewing pamphlets and a stitched book.

My workshops are limited to a maximum of five people so there’s plenty of time for discussion and individual attention.
