Season of Mists
An intricate papercut garland inspired by Keat's poem 'To Autumn'. The delicate lettering is surrounded by a tangle of seasonal berries and seed heads, with the prickly spines of the teasel and thistles gently curving into a woven garland. The piece is hand cut from a single piece of Fabriano paper, then underpainted with gouache. I layer lovely inky sepia tones over the top to create that tonal autumnal feel and capture Keat's sense of soft mistiness. It's then mounted off the surface of the backing paper to enhance the sense of depth and throw dramatic shadows when the light slants over it. It's framed in a simple white box frame.
The Dimensions are approximately 30 cm square.
