Seagull Book
A handmade concertina book with seagulls flying out of the pages. This book was inspired by a seaside walk with my sister. We spent ages trying to remember all the names we could for gulls and seabirds, but we only managed about 15 and there are a lot more than that! I made a collage of the names, which forms the background of this piece. I'd printed the words onto paper and torn them up, so the faint remains of the words echoes the way memory works, when you are half remembering things and can only faintly call them to mind.
This handmade concertina book has 7.5 centimetre square covers, and extends to about 20cm when fully open. It comes presented in a white card gift box.
